About This Event

From 1952 on, American Bandstand showcased the popular music of the time. On  November 17, Flashband and Gypsy Sally’s will reinterpret the pop music of  today into the folk-inspired genres of americana, bluegrass, and country. 40+ musicians will meet and form temporary bands, each band doing a fifteen minute set including at least one pop song played in a folk style and one original song written as a band since they formed one month before.
The Location:
Gypsy Sally's
3401 K Street NW, Washington DC
Sunday, November 17, 5pm (first band at 6)
$5 at the door
Gypsy Sally's is a new, 300+ person capacity venue in Georgetown. In addition to a great sound system and space, they also have a full bar and kitchen. Plan on a fun, leisurely Sunday dinner and showcase of some great new Flashbands!
Meet-and-greet jam:
All participating musicians must attend the meet-and-greet jam, where musicians cycle through 3-4 concurrent jam sessions and play with all the other participants, and then begin forming their bands.
Sunday, October 20, 4pm
The meet-and-greet jam is the start of the process for this show! All participants will be emailed information about the meet-and-greet in the week before the meet-and-greet.
The rules:
We'll have 40+ musicians in 8 bands that first formed just one month before the show. Each band must do a 15 minute set.
- Genre must be a folk-related style (americana, bluegrass, country, or similar)
- At least one song needs to be a cover of a pop song (current or old)
- At least one original song written as a band since forming

The Crew

The Crew Will be a band that has a chemistry in a special way that original songs are birthed even As we play / practice, Americana, smothered in Rock beats pointing in a Jazzy, with a touch of country blend/ mixed all from the hearts of each special Band member , and their style of blending while playing Instrumental music on many levels and in many Genres at the same Time. Just a powerhouse of musicians dying to show their talent A must see performance It's about having fun while in doing so well, we end up entertaining others Email me andresdrummer777@gmail.com those that are interested Let's do this !!!!!!!

The Foggy Bottom Boys & Girls Club

We've got a lot going on here.

The Agreeables

We're looking at some countrified, folkified versions of your favorite hits, including the 80s classic Jessie's Girl and a modern anthem, Beyoncé's Single Ladies. We've also put in work on an Agreeables original, "On the Radio" by the great Michael Morella.

Woo! (temp name)

Tight lady harmonies. Crazy keys. Matts on guitars and drums. Bass-by-Bryson. Fiddle femme fatale Fischer. Uke!

We are an eclectic group of intriguing instruments! Get psyched up for some sweet, sweet harmonies, knee-smackin' rhythms, and general joy! Because we're KNARL-y.

*Insert funny-witty blurb here*

The Upstairs Neighbors

We've got two guitarists, a bassist, a drummer, a violinist, a female vocalist, and mandolin.
