The North American Martyrs play a mix of Honky Tonk tinged with folk and Latin influences. This is a song about those forced to leave a place they love for economic reasons. A story told to me by a friend who moved to California in the early 1980's https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnKZYlfp168 Lyrics are in the video description.
My name is Matt Hoffman I've been writing and recording music since I was about nine years old. I gig as much as possible around the Maryland/Virginia area. I play a mix of reggae, rock, acoustic, and R&B, usually with just myself and a guitar. See the unplugged version of my original song "Obvious" below! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sJvE083Wbr4
YouTube Link: https://youtu.be/uO9qv4PIOps Baltimore born singing legend Billie holiday once said 'A kiss never tasted is forever and ever wasted.' Sometimes we get so busy and life with work and play that we never really look up or look around. Baltimore has many memories for me and I tried to put them into this song. Of course, a three-minute song can't possibly tell the whole Baltimore story but this is Baltimore from my perspective."
I'm a Post-American/Alt. County songwriter based in Baltimore. I wrote this song about my neighborhood, Baltimore's regional reputation, and my life as a working musician.
