About This Event

------signup now closed, come out to the show on October 12!!------
Get your tickets here - $6 presale, $8 day of show:

Flashband From Scratch will feature 6-7 bands playing sets of entirely original tunes. A main purpose of Flashband is to challenge musicians to create new music together and help them learn and grow. While past events have had the requirement of at least one original song, this event requires that all Flashbands must play a set of all original music. Musicians choose the style and genre they want to play, find kindred musicians at the meet-and-greet, and come back one month later with 15 minutes of original music.

The Location:
The Dunes
1402 Meridian Place NW, Washington D.C.
Saturday, October 12, 2013, doors at 7pm

The rules:
- We'll have 35 musicians in 6-7 bands that first formed just one month before the show. Each band must do a 15 minute set.

- Any genre/style

- Bands must perform an all-original set

- No fully-formed pre-existing bands

In addition to the standard meet-and-greet jam, we plan to have some optional activities and suggestions on song-writing techniques to help your band in the songwriting process.

Want to participate?
Create an account or sign in, and then click the signup button on the upper right. Make sure you're available to attend the two mandatory events: the meet-and-greet jam on Sunday, September 8 at 6pm, and of course the show itself on Saturday, October 12! Signup is open to musicians of all types and genres. Musicians just need to have a sense of adventure and be willing to play some new music!

I just got off the waiting list. Anyone need a singer? I can send some clips of my work if you are interested.

Had to opt out. Father in Law's 80th has been moved to that date. Sorry to miss but he is that awesome.

Hey so I'm new to this, are you supposed to bring your instrument to the meet and greet? Ie, is it actually a jam or just a social event?

@Nick's Band Do you need a singer (lead or back up). I can also play guitar and keyboard if needed.

I can't make the meet and greet, but I'd love to be an alternate if somebody needs to bow out later on.
