About This Event

Hallow’s Eve is a time for expressing the crazy that hides inside you all year. Your deepest fears and joys are permitted to come out on display. Your unstoppable imagination fuels your creation of amazing costumes and wacky performances. Music is a huge part of any Halloween party. It can scare us, inspire memories and nostalgia, or bring humor to life’s darker side. Flashband’s Halloween showcase challenges musicians both to undergo a character transformation and to play music that’s out of the ordinary. Use that Halloween sugar high and amp up your everyday style! In true Flashband fashion, musicians will attend a meet-and-greet, form temporary bands, practice with them for one month, then play a one-night-only showcase at IOTA Club & Cafe.

The Show

All bands will do one fifteen minute set, with at least one new original song and at least one song fitting the showcase theme.

No Guarantees

We have selected a not too scary set of songs that is not quite finalized yet but may include the Doors' People Are Strange, Donovan's Season of the Witch, Duran Duran's Hungry Like the Wolf, and maybe just maybe Timewarp from the Rocky Horror Picture Show soundtrack. We have Isabel on the keys and we're going to use her!

Fela Kuti's 13th Wife

We're planning on doing Zombie by Fela Kuti, something apropos from Zappa, and a SURPRISE idea which is so good I won't give it away, but it's gonna be good trust me. The afrobeat thing will be a ton of fun, but the music is fast and technical, and we need more people to make it happen! If you feel confident shaking the shakers, playing bongos or congas, quick rhythmic guitar work, or just want to get really into syncopation on any instrument, join our band! Email me at nealmarks@gmail.com.

dynamic waves of fear

space. atmosphere. effects pedals. moogs. fear. All original instrumental mood music, with one cover: Within You Without You written by George Harrison.

Uncle Fester and the Kun Fu Telezombies

Feed my Frankenstein - Alice Cooper Enter Sandman - Metallica Dig up Her Bones - Misfits back by popular Demand - Dragula - Rob Zombie

Lurch, Fester, and Gomez

Our credo, "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc"..."We gladly feast on those who would subdue us". Super-secret formula of super-scary songs in a super-intimate setting to get you super-excited...campfire stories with flashlights, chainsaws and all that crap

Imagine a freakish Run through the Jungle, with a Superstition that Somebody's Watching Me...and it just might be the Boogie Man...or the Black Magic Woman...yeah that's spooky

Neal's Band

Flashband Platinum Award Winners

Raising Howl

Howling on the Stage - Songs we are planning: Bloodletting - Concrete Blonde; Zombie - Cramberries; Haceinda Hotel - Pickwick; I Put a Spell on You - Annie Lennex version; Spider Webs - No Doubt; Bad Things - Jace Everett; and Don't Fear The Reaper - Blue Oyster Cult

The Exorcist Theme would be cool. It starts in 15/8 and other instruments come in at 7/8 and 8/8. Cray
