About This Event

All you need is one song to hit big.  Come pay homage to the artists so easily forgotten with the Flashband One Hit Wonders Showcase.  The premise is simple.  Bands will play at least one hit song from an artist with out any other hit songs. Got it, Vanilla Ice?

Flashband Showcases bring together a group of musicians who form new, temporary bands. After a short period of rehearsal, we put them on stage for a one-night only show. For this special Flashband Showcase, musicians will put together a full set of music based on the One Hit Wonders theme. At least one of the songs must be an original song written by the band since forming.

Interested in performing? Musician signup is open until the meet-and-greet jam date of January 25.

Musician Signup

Musicians from all backgrounds and styles are welcome to sign up, although they should feel confident in their ability to perform a fifteen minute set on stage after just a few practices with their band. Musicians pick their own bands from other participating musicians at the meet-and-greet jam.

Musician registration fee covers:

-Use of space and equipment at the studio at the jam session

-Organization and logistics by Flashband staff

-Professional photos of the show (see past photos here)

Backstage members get free show participation and other perks - find out more here

To sign up, create an account and then click the 'Sign Up' button in the upper right.

ONE FOR THE MONEY

Rock, blues, rockin' blues...call it what you want. We call it fun!. Two songs with a 6/4 time sig! Soaring bluesy guitar solos. Mouth harp. Join us! Life is a Highway to the Mississippi Queen. Even though we Fooled Around and Fell in Love, we Still Got the Blues. Help us shake them off. Sing along, clap, yell and scream. It's all good.

Only's Never Lonely

Strictly out of the Wikipedia One Hist Wonders List. No Lie, we're chasing down that eternal flame of momentary sparkiness. sax, funky bass and drums, vocal overload with guitars to spare, we're gonna shoot it right on your funky bone. We'll leave the 50's and 60's stuff to other folks, we're feeling the 80's, 90's and later. Oh yes -- we're thinking 500 Miles by the Proclaimers.

One and Onlies

Exploring the boundaries of one hit wonders. We ask such important questions as: Is it a one hit wonder if it was only made famous by another group (or by many different groups)? Does it count as a hit if only 1/3 of the band has heard of it? Can we reach beyond the genres covered by Billboard charts and top 40s stations? Who were the one hit wonders of the 1970s, the 1770s, the 1270s? Set list may or may not include: The Lion Sleeps Tonight; Take on Me; Boom Boom Boom (Let me hear you say wayo); Amazing Grace

Anastasia and The Beaverhausens

In the tradition of Cream, The Travelling Wilburys, and Damn Yankees, Flashers have left their "day-bands" temporarily to come together to form the latest super-group, Anastasia and The Beaverhausens. With a tip-of-the-cap to the alias of Karen Walker (TV Show "Will & Grace"), Anastasia and The Beaverhausens will be a Flashband drunken, pill-popping, tour-de-force.

Spicy Cherries

We are too sexy for shirts. So will be wearing light jackets. Provisional set list: tommy tutone 8675309 ten years after I'd love to change the world buffalo springfield for what it's worth lit my own worst enemy of monsters and men little talks

Glad to see we share a sense of humor w/other Flashers. We can be "The One-ders" w/hyphen, and Chris Wesley & Co can be "The Oneders" w/o.

Yes Garrett. There will be a few amps there in each jam room, but if you have a ~15-30 amp, you are welcome to bring it just in case.

That sounds good enough imho. Some stretch the theme thin. I have a vocal pedal that does the megaphone/telephone/AM effect.

Steve Andersen

I ask this only because "Mexican Radio" only made it to 58 o US charts but 18 on Canadian charts...for example

Steve Andersen

Ryan, sort of wing it. Bring what u like, ask if others know, play it, others will ask about songs too, give&take turns, 40 min goes quick.
