About This Event

Snap bracelets, Starter Jackets, Sony Walkmans, horrible internet speeds, and neon everything… Who doesn’t love the 90’s. Join us for a special Flashband tribute to the decade that made us great. We’ll have 40+ musicians in about 8 bands paying their respects to Britney Spears, Joey Lawrence, and Flubber.

Want to come to the show?

Club Heaven & Hell

2327 18th St., NW, Washington DC 20009

Saturday, April 19th

Doors at 8pm; first band at 8:30

$10 at the door

The rules:

We'll have 40+ musicians in 8 bands that first formed just one month before the show. Each band must do a 15 minute set.

- At least one song should play on the ‘90’s’ theme (or the whole set, because really, it’s the 90’s)

- At least one original song written as a band since forming

- No pre-existing bands

We’ll be at Club Heaven & Hell for this showcase. Feel free to draw upon any of your 90’s musical influences, from grunge to alternative to hip hop to Hansen. You can interpret 90’s anyway you’d like. Bands can do covers of 90’s songs, originals in a particular 90’s style, 90’s songs with a new arrangement. Hell, you could bounce around on stage wearing moon shoes while singing the theme song to Salute your Shorts. We won’t judge.

Inspiration 90’s tunes to remind you why this was the greatest decade of them all.

Meet-and-greet jam:

All participating musicians must attend the meet-and-greet jam, where musicians cycle through 3-4 concurrent jam sessions and play with all the other participants, and then begin forming their bands.

The meet-and-greet jam is the start of the process for this show! We've rented out rehearsal space at Bach 2 Rock music school in Bethesda, MD, just a couple blocks from the metro station. Please arrive early - we only have until 6:30 to jam, and the earlier we get everyone there the sooner we can start playing music.

No one interested in an acoustic/ analogue synth style medley of 1990s dance numbers? rhythm is a dancer? the power? groove is in the heart?
