About James:

I've been playing music for as long as I can remember. Both my parents played music, and I was fortunate to have a piano in my house growing up. Even though I quit taking piano lessons around 3rd or 4th grade, I picked it back up in high school and from then on could sit for an hour or two and just jam. In college, I'd sneak into the music building late at night or in between classes to play one of their baby grands. I really do love all styles and all instruments. Playing piano has informed how I learned guitar and bass and drums. At the same time, my guitar playing has helped advance my piano and bass playing. They all inform each other at some level. Musical styles I know well: Rock, Folk/Americana, Jazz/Fusion, Alternative, and Singer-songwriter Musical styles I enjoy & want to play better: R&B, Hip-Hop, Gospel, Indie (whatever that means)
